The Sheaf View, Gleadless Road, Heeley, Sheffield
The Sheaf View on a stormy Sunday afternoon in summer. According to the Sheffield Star, the pub first opened in 1879, but for the first 99 years of its history was licensed to sell only beer and cider as it had outside toilets only. https://www.thestar.co.uk/heritage-and-retro/retro/10-sheffields-oldest-pubs-and-what-their-names-mean-2445637 In the distance beyond the River Sheaf can be seen the Madina mosque on Wolseley Road, with its central green dome flanked by a pair of minarets.
