Sheffield: Halfway tram terminus
Car 111 is in the Stagecoach livery. There was a time when the tramway, and all the buses, were going to be in public ownership, and operated as an integrated transport system. The Thatcher and Major governments saw that idea off in very short order, and now, bus competes with bus, bus competes with tram, fares are too high to attract many out of their cars, etc.... But at least there is a well-used park-and-ride system at the outer tram termini.

Halfway tram terminus, Sheffield
When the long tram route to Halfway opened, this was a rather bleak spot, but a park-and-ride facility has been provided now and trees planted.

Bus Garage, Old Lane
This was originally the home of Booth and Fisher, a long established independent operator of bus services in the area. After the formation of the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive in the early 1970s, such operators found it difficult to survive, and Booth and Fisher were taken over by the PTE. Since the breaking up of the operations of the PTE under the 1985 Transport Act, the wheel has turned further, and the premises are once again owned by a smaller operator, TM Travel.

Halfway tram terminus
This point is less than a mile from the Derbyshire boundary, and probably the tram attracts many commuters from Derbyshire into Sheffield City Centre, as there is a large park-and-ride facility here.
