Sheffield: view to rainbow?s end
Looking over some Sheffield rooftops – the derelict looking one in the foreground is the former Royal Mail sorting office on Pond Street, which is in the process of being demolished.

Pond Street, more changes under way in Sheffield
The demolition gang appears to be in action on these old buildings near the corner with Pond Hill, by the Penny Black pub at the old postal sorting office.

Sheffield: postbox № S1 1263, Pond Street
This peculiar postbox stands outside the main Sheffield Royal Mail delivery office. It is a sort of hybrid box, with franked mail going in the left-hand opening (which has a sliding door) and ordinary stamped mail in the right-hand slot. Given that it is outside what must be a very significant building postally, it is perhaps surprising that the box is not emptied on Saturdays – only on weekdays. The electronic display was blank just now, and one can only guess what information it might impart when it is in use.

Sheffield: Flat Street
It isn't flat, unlike the walkway alongside the shops. In 2009, the shops visible here were removed and in their place the car park, which accounts for much of the rest of the building, was extended into their former premises.

Sheffield: changes on Flat Street
The line of shops on Image have been removed and presumably some kind of redevelopment is imminent. A particular loss it the Minerva, later Copley's, which was a splendid little café. Flat Street is still not flat!

Accomodation at the univerisity
On a narrow site at Sheffield Hallam University, between Pond Street and Flat Street this tower block is called "Vista Sheffield". It is a development by the university with Mount Property Group. There is no architect separately named. This is on a former post office site. The Victorian head post office next door has been refurbished as an arts college.
