This peculiar postbox stands outside the main Sheffield Royal Mail delivery office. It is a sort of hybrid box, with franked mail going in the left-hand opening (which has a sliding door) and ordinary stamped mail in the right-hand slot. Given that it is outside what must be a very significant building postally, it is perhaps surprising that the box is not emptied on Saturdays – only on weekdays. The electronic display was blank just now, and one can only guess what information it might impart when it is in use.
