Former Odeon, Flat Street, Sheffield
A few traces of Art Deco but more Festival of Britain style, as befitting its 1950s date. The glass foyer is original. By Roger Bullivant. Pevsner dates it to 1956, but this is trumped by eminent Geographer Dave Hitchborne who tells me he saw the first film screened here, Mandy, in 1952. As is apparent, now a Mecca bingo hall.

Sheffield: Esperanto Place
This short stub of road is not named on the ground but is given as Esperanto Place on my street atlas. It comprises little more than access to loading yards for premises on Arundel Gate behind us, so may well not have any postal addresses allotted to it.
