Rare Edward VIII pillar box on Carterknowle Road
Edward VIII was Great Britain's monarch throughout 1936 - up until his abdication in December of that year. Nationwide only 161 Edward VIII red pillar boxes were installed with only three located in Sheffield.

Struggling in the snow on Button Hill
Certainly not the steepest hill in the city but it was causing problems for peak hour motorists after an overnight snowfall. Two cars stuck approaching the junction, two trying to turn round, one of which then got stuck going up the lesser hill in the other direction!
