Trees with windswept snow on Mawney Road #5
Driving along Mawney Road from Collier Row towards Romford gave us this amazing view - clearly the wind has been blowing in the right direction and has managed to sweep the snow onto the trunks and branches of the trees that line the road, creating this classic winter scene! Just one last shot before the trees end and we come to the junction with the A12. Just as a matter of interest, the wind must have been blowing in a different direction on the other half of Mawney Road (on the other side of the A12) as the trees there weren't covered in snow at all. Oh well, at least this half of the road put on a good display! View taken looking east-southeast towards the A12 (marked out by the different lamp standards in the background) and Romford beyond.

Eastern Avenue West
Traffic on the eastbound (far) side was held up by the traffic lights at Mawney Road whereas the traffic on this westbound side had only just had the change of lights.

Trees with windswept snow on Mawney Road #4
Driving along Mawney Road from Collier Row towards Romford gave us this amazing view - clearly the wind has been blowing in the right direction and has managed to sweep the snow onto the trunks and branches of the trees that line the road, creating this classic winter scene! The trees on this stretch of the road don't have as many branches and so aren't as spectacular, but provide an excellent contrast all the same! View taken looking east-southeast along Mawney Road towards Romford, this time in square TQ5089.

Field to the south of Eastern Avenue West
The land on either side of Eastern Avenue West between Mawney Road and Whalebone Lane North has not been built on. This is at the eastern end, just before the traffic lights at Mawney Road are reached. Eastern Avenue West is just the other side of the hedge on the left. The houses ahead are in Pretoria Road. The path here is not an official footpath. On the Ordnance Survey the area towards Pretoria Road is still shown as allotments, whereas the large area of allotments that still exist are much further to the south.

Pleasant tree-lined section of Mawney Road
The section of Mawney Road on the Romford side of the A12 Eastern Avenue is quite pleasantly tree-lined, making it seem as if you are driving through a small forest rather than an urban main road. View taken from the queue for the Eastern Avenue traffic lights, looking southeast towards Romford Town Centre.
