As seen from Hoford Road (farm road with public access). Don't fancy winding myway through these dangerous farm implements to High House Lane.

Derelict tin house and shed
If old maps have it right, these corrugated iron structures came into being between the world wars, and evidently went out of use some time ago. The Coal Road is in the foreground, now publicly only a bridleway. Immediately beyond the house is Muckingford Road.

The Coal Road
A public bridleway to East Tilbury. An old route for carrying sea coal inland towards London from a wharf at Coalhouse Point. In this way London coal duty was avoided. This was levied for vessels carrying coal (largely from Newcastle) further upriver than Bill Meroy Creek. This was much further out from London than the inland tax boundary, so there was quite a large area to be served before arriving at that problem.
