The Treacle Mine
Before WW2 a young lad pointed at Grays Chalk Pit and asked “what’s that Dad?” the reply was “A Treacle Mine Son” more than sixty years later the brewery had a competition to name their new pub serving Chafford Hundred. “The Treacle Mine” won.
