BMP1 (PT90) Armoured Fighting Vehicle
The design of this Soviet era troop carrier dates from the 1960’s. It was the first vehicle to not only carry soldiers into battle but to give them anti-tank cover too. This Czechoslovakian version from the 1980’s has a smaller gun than earlier designs due to the SALT treaties limiting anti-tank capabilities. The first appearance of this type of vehicle shocked western military planners. The result was the construction of the Warrior in the UK http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warrior_tracked_armoured_vehicle and the Bradley http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradley_Fighting_Vehicle in the U.S. At Image today this vehicle was taking part in a Vietnam era reconstruction it was playing the part of a North Vietnamese asset.
