Small open space developed as part of the building of Safeways (now Morrisons) in 1993. The name refers to the former lock up on the site, The Cage, now a wine bar (see Image). For close up of the statue, The Buskers, see Image

The Cage
The Cage was the town prison, built in 1811 to replace a similar building near what is now the Old Town Hall (see Image). It now serves as a wine bar. It is grade II listed - for listing particulars see www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1188654.

25/27 High Street
Until the 1980s, what is now Martins newsagents and post office was the Reigate branch of Woolworths. It closed because of the proximity of a much larger branch in nearby Redhill. Another now defunct high street name, Timothy Whites, was a former occupant of what is now Clintons (card shop).

Cage Yard
So called, because it contains the former "cage" or prison (see Image). The building behind the statue dates from the late 17th Century and is grade IIc listed (i.e. in the curtilage of the building on the right, part of 31 - 37 High Street, which is grade II listed).
