Rowdell
Once the site of an old manor within Washington parish. The lane is part of the South Downs Way route that avoids crossing the main A24 road.

Rowdell
The first recorded house on this site dates from the 13th century and was probably rebuilt in the 17th. This in turn was demolished in 1814 and replaced by another which survived until 1952 when that too was demolished. The current house seems to have been converted from some former outbuildings.
