Gate House, Hickstead Lane, Hickstead
A 19th century house which may have once been a couple of dwellings. It is on the drive to Little Hickstead Farm whilst next to it is the horse box entrance to Hickstead Showground.

Hickstead Lane, Hickstead
Viewed from the roundabout which once marked the location of Hickstead crossroads but since the early 1990s contains a slip road junction with the A2300. An old road once ran to the south west to provide access for Image and Hickstead Place but was closed off as part of the Turnpike Act of 1808 which built the original route of the A23. The lane heads west to Twineham.

Old Post Office, London Road
Still has the old Victorian postbox in the wall near the door. Hickstead is a small hamlet in the parish of Twineham based around a manor house and a farm, the main London-Brighton road bought limited growth, the post office and what was first called the New Inn, later named the Castle Hotel then Castle Inn, which can be seen across the roundabout. Until the early 1990s this stood on a crossroads on the A23 with Hickstead Lane heading west and Jobs Lane going east. When the entire trunk road was made dual carriageway this section was bypassed and made a junction with a new link road, the A2300, to Burgess Hill.

At the site of the former crossroads which was replaced in the early 1990s when a new routing of the A23 effectively bypassed the village. In 1997 the A2300 to improve the link with Burgess Hill. "Old Crocks" at Hickstead
An entrant in the 1963 London to Brighton Veteran Car Run passes the Old Post Office at Hickstead. Note the people lining the roadside and the mass of following vehicles. After the dualling of the A23 the event was re-routed to pass through Burgess Hill and Hassocks.
