65, High Street, Lindfield
There is a dispute between this building (Which also includes Image) and Image as to which is the oldest secular building on the High Street. There is partial evidence to suggest the house was built around 1330 and thus predates the grant of the town's market charter of 1344. What is not in dispute is the longevity of the business within. Humphrey's bakery was established in 1795 and still trading as such today operating as an independent and very popular with the locals judging by the queues often seen around lunchtimes.

Red Lion, High Street, Lindfield
One of four pubs on the High Street. The original Red Lion was located next door, see Image, until 1720 when it moved to this location. The inn rose in prominence when the main street was made part of a London-Brighton turnpike and was an official stop on the route until the coaching trade ceased in the aftermath of the construction of the railway. The garden contains an original 'horse gin' building that was moved here from its former location at Lindfield Brewery that was located in Denmans Lane.
