Bridger's House, Balcombe Road, Haywards Heath
The house on the right was built in the 1970s on a former outbuilding of Bridger's Mill which was in operation from the early 19th century until well into the 20th. It was demolished in the mid 1960s. The cars park next to the railway embankment are located on the old course of Balcombe Road with the section beyond once the eastern tip of the former mill pond. The road itself is a busy C route linking Haywards Heath to Balcombe and predates the town.

Barnard Gate, Haywards Heath
Sheltered housing built around 1991 on the site of a former house. The road in the foreground is the old course of Balcombe Road which was moved westwards once the former mill ponds of Bridgers Mill were drained in the late 1950s in order to avoid a sharp ninety degree turn under the railway bridge. The remains of the road provide a parking place for 6 or 7 cars of commuters using Haywards Heath station which is a five minute walk to the south across the footpath that lies adjacent to Sainsbury's car park.
