Station Road
The A272 as it heads west out of Cowfold. Originally the road was a minor lane that lead to Brownings Farm and no further but was turnpiked as an east-west through route in 1825 becoming Station Road when West Grinstead station was built a couple of miles down the road that opened in 1861 and closed in 1966. Cowfold still retains a number of services with a barbers and beauty saloon on the left, the former once being the village Post Office before that moved to Bolney Road. The other notable point is that the other houses on the left actually front onto the church with their rears facing the main road.

Margaret Cottages (Rear View)
Built sometime in the 18th century the building was the original village poorhouse then workhouse until 1835 when it converted into private residences. Later it was further converted into a single residence before another conversion in 1929 when they were turned into six private almshouses by local resident Margaret Norris for whom the building was then named after. The rear part abut onto Station Road the current A272 but originally a minor farm lane to Brownings Farm whilst the front faces onto the churchyard. See Image for the front view.

Church Path
Many of the cottages date from the 17th century and face into the church similar in effect to a village green. The weatherboarded cottage on the left is Massetts whilst the others are just numbered.
