Level crossing and railway station at Littlehaven, near Horsham, West Sussex
A small halt was opened here in 1907 on the line between Three Bridges and Horsham even though the area around it was open countryside, as it remained until after World War II. Nowadays the fields are full of suburban housing. The level crossing is one of the few traditional gated crossings remaining in the south of England; it is worked by a wheel inside the station building.

Littlehaven railway station, Sussex
Opened in 1848 by the London Brighton & South Coast Railway on the line from Three Bridges to Horsham. View south west towards Horsham, following recent modernisation of the level crossing and platform lengthening; although the old ticket hut survives.

Littlehaven Halt
View SW, towards Horsham and the South Coast: ex-LB&SCR Three Bridges - Horsham - Arundel - Chichester - Portsmouth (Mid-Sussex secondary main line). Built 1907, it was just a 'Halt' until 5/69. (Nowadays many 'Stations' are in practice 'Halts' - i.e. unstaffed). (Cf. Image]).

Littlehaven level crossing
Unusual in being of the traditional swinging gate type. Signal T894 is of the increasingly common single LED (Light Emitting Diode) type, the single aspect showing red, yellow or green from the same head. The T indicating it is one of the Three Bridges complement.
