A small halt was opened here in 1907 on the line between Three Bridges and Horsham even though the area around it was open countryside, as it remained until after World War II. Nowadays the fields are full of suburban housing. The level crossing is one of the few traditional gated crossings remaining in the south of England; it is worked by a wheel inside the station building.
