Path from Tinsley Lane North to Radford Road
This was originally the diverted course of Tinsley Lane when the railway was built. This avoided two level crossings in close proximity. When Radford Lane bridge was built to replace its level crossing, the lane was re-diverted to veer to the left here to ramp up to meet the bridge embankment some way from the crest.

View northward, towards London: ex-LB&SCR London (Victoria/London Bridge) - Brighton etc. main line. The present Gatwick Airport station, opened 28/5/58, is just visible ahead. This is the site of 'Tinsley Green' station, opened in 9/35, becoming 'Gatwick Airport' in 6/36, while the precursor of the modern Gatwick Airport station was plain 'Gatwick', but became 'Gatwick Racecourse' 1946-58. An express for the Coast is on the Down Fast. (Cf. Image]).
