View northward, towards London: ex-LB&SCR London (Victoria/London Bridge) - Brighton etc. main line. The present Gatwick Airport station, opened 28/5/58, is just visible ahead. This is the site of 'Tinsley Green' station, opened in 9/35, becoming 'Gatwick Airport' in 6/36, while the precursor of the modern Gatwick Airport station was plain 'Gatwick', but became 'Gatwick Racecourse' 1946-58. An express for the Coast is on the Down Fast. (Cf. Image]).
