Brighton line 0-6-0 at Three Bridges Locomotive Depot
View SW on a wintry afternoon. Three Bridges was a small Depot on the ex-LB&SCR London - Brighton main line, providing, since the electrification of 1933, locomotives for freight and for the branch to East Grinstead: as BR code 75E, in 1949 it had 34 locomotives:- 7 2-6-0, 13 0-6-0, 5 4-4-2T and 9 0-6-2T. This is ex-LB&SCR Marsh C3 class No. 32303 (built 6/1906, withdrawn 9/51).

Ex-LB&SCR R. Billinton class E5 No. 32585 was built as No. 585 'Crowborough' in 11/1903 and withdrawn in 5/54.

Surviving LB&SCR 0-6-0 at Three Bridges Locomotive Depot
No. 2436 was almost the last LB&SC L. Billinton class C2 0-6-0 not rebuilt to C2X; it was built 3/1893, withdrawn 1/50.

Ex-LB&SCR 'Large Vulcan' C2X 0-6-0 at Three Bridges Locomotive Depot
Distinguished by their double domes and built by the Vulcan Foundry, the LB&SCR C2X class 0-6-0s were reboilered R. Billinton C2s: No. 32532 was built as C2 No. 532 10/1900, rebuilt 7/1911, withdrawn 5/60. Three Bridges Depot remained after electrification of the main lines primarily for the freight traffic and had an allocation in 1949 of 34:- 6 2-6-0, 13 0-6-0, 5 4-4-2T and 10 0-6-2T.

Network Rail construction site, Three Bridges
This area of the redevelopment of old sidings here is mainly to do with the large grey building. It will be, to quote Network Rail " a state-of-the-art rail operating centre ... the nerve centre of railway operations in Sussex".

Haslett Avenue East, Crawley
Heading east towards Three Bridges. A guided bus lane is on the left, only usable by route 20. Viewed from a bus on route 5. This, along with routes including 3, 5, 84 and 400 have to mingle with other traffic on the road over this section.
