High Street, Theale
Theale's attractive high street on a quiet Saturday afternoon - very different from how it must have been when this was the A4 London - Bristol trunk road. The A4 now by-passes Theale and has in any case largely been superseded as a national artery by the M4.

The Falcon, Theale
One of several pubs in Theale on what used to be the A4, the main road to Bath. A grade II listed building, 17th century with early 18th century refacing.

The Bull, Theale High Street
Theale High Street lies on the Old Bath Road, and a fair number of pubs survive from the days when the passing trade was far greater than it is now. The passageway on the right leads through to Image now used as offices. The Bull (how did I forget to mention it?) is a Wadworth's house.

The Bull, Theale
One of several pubs in Theale on what used to be the A4, the main road to Bath. This appears to have been associated with a brewery. The passage to the right, behind the bus stop, has an arch with 'Brewery Court' displayed, so it seems likely the brewery buildings are now residential.

Blatch's Brewery
Theale brewery was acquired by the Blatch family in 1854 and operated until 1966. It was converted into offices around the original yard, now called Brewery Court. See http://thealevillage.com/food-and-drink/the-ale-of-theale/the-brewery/ which also features some old bottle labels from way back. They don't seem to have made a brew called The Ale, which you'd think they might have done.
