The Badgers Wood
It's possible that this pub's name is synonymous with its surrounding settlement: Baughurst. The toponymy is as follows: Baughurst may either refer to the wood inhabited by a Saxon named Beagga, or by badgers; ie "wood of the badgers". Hurst means a thick wood.

Woodlands Road, Baughurst Common
Baughurst Common is the western end of the Heath End / Tadley / Pamber Heath conurbation, a suburban style post war new town on former heathland. The flowering cherry is a true suburban trademark, but as the street names suggest, heathland pinewoods are what would more naturally be here..
