In recent years it has been earmarked for demolition and remodelling. It was empty at the time of the photo.

Foster Wheeler Building
Might also be known as Station Tower but I remember the original name, one of my friends used to work there. Now, from the look of the covering and scaffold, it will be getting demolished and not before time as I found it, and the rest of Station Hill, an ugly blot on the landscape.

The Old Forge, Merchant's Place
There was a blacksmith's shop here for very many years, not sure when it closed but it was still going at least into the 1980s http://rfa.readingmuseum.org.uk/detail.asp?ID=53 .
In the building today there are a cafe, a body piercing studio and a hypnotherapy centre.
The entrance to Garrard Street Car Park is at the bottom of Merchant's Place, with Western Tower in the background.
