Up express on WCML south of Preston near Ribble Sidings, Penwortham 1957
View NE from B5254 Leyland Road. The 14.25 Morecambe - Crewe express is headed by Stanier Jubilee Class 6P No. 45678 'De Robeck' (built 12/35, withdrawn 12/62).

Up freight on the WCML coming away from Preston at Skew Bridge
View northward, towards Preston and the North: ex-LNW & L&Y Joint stretch (from Euxton Junction) of the West Coast Main Line. The Up Class H freight is on the Slow lines just south of Ribble Sidings, headed by the usual Stanier Class 5 4-6-0, here No. 45184.

View, towards Preston and the North on WCML, also Blackpool etc., south side of Preston with Park Hotel visible on the extreme left. The Class E freight is headed by Stanier 8F 2-8-0 No. 48323 (built late 1944, withdrawn 7/68 -one of the last). See also Image

The back garden becomes a building site...
This lovely back garden continues to be cleared, ready for a couple of large houses to be plonked on it...see Image for a previous view, taken on 27th August. Little do the greedy builders know that this garden is prone to flooding.....

The bridle path between Studholme Crescent and Winslow Close
This little footpath/bridle path runs alongside the little park, on the left, and the old farmhouse of Studholme Farm. The white cottages on the right are on Giller Drive, and are old farm workers' cottages. The big tree in the middle is a protected tree, of historical importance, and is home to many a magpie !!

Our "non-existent" road !!
I have only just noticed that our little road, containing just 4 bungalows, appears to have been omitted from the Ordnance Survey map, but it IS here, I can assure you, and has been since 1960 !!!
