The Church of St Wilfrid, Chapel Street
St Wilfrid's is a Roman Catholic church dating originally from 1793, but rebuilt 1879-80. Somewhat unusually, the church lies parallel to, instead of being at right-angles to, the street and does not have a surrounding green space or a spire to make it more distinctive.
It is a grade II* listed building (English Heritage Building ID: 391946 http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-391946-church-of-st-wilfrid-lancashire British Listed Buildings)

Inside St. Wilfrid's
A splendid R.C. church in what has been described as "a restrained English Jesuit baroque" style in the centre of Preston. The church, which first opened its doors on 4 June 1793 with a public performance of Handel's Messiah, has since been massively restored and improved.
The parish is administered by priests of The Society of Jesus (Jesuits).

12 Chapel Street, Preston
Something of an oddball. All manner of architectural ornament has been applied with no consideration of authenticity or aesthetics. This makes it hard to date - Victorian or early C20th.

Buildings in Chapel Street, Preston
I have not previously seen anything quite like the office building in the centre. The top floor seems to have a timber framing pattern, which looks strange over Classical columns.
