New housing development, Sylvan Drive
At the time of Geograph submission, the developer claims 80% of properties are sold, but the estate does not yet appear on the 1:50,000 OS sheet

Entrance to Newport Recreation Ground
The house, presumably originally the park-keepers house, is interesting in having "VR" on the left side of the upper central window and "ER" on the right. This tends to suggest construction started in Queen Victoria's reign and finished in Edward VII's, dating it at 1900-01.

Victorian postbox
Victorian postbox mounted alongside the entrance to Westmont House, an apartment block completed in late 2006. Previously a pub, The Bedford, had stood here, dating from the late 19th Century, and an old photo in http://pubshistory.com/IsleofWight/Newport/BedfordHotel.shtml shows the postbox incorporated in the wall of the building.

Mid 19th Century terraces with that on the middle left being grade II listed - see www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1034622.
