The stream is stained milky white, being polluted with a suspension of china clay from the Lee Moor workings upstream.

Old Mill Buildings at Newham
This water mill does not look like it went out of use that many years ago. The water to run it was taken off the Tory Brook into a leat about a mile upstream from here and powered a 25 foot wheel which drove the machinery.
