Former Saltash Ferry

Saltash Passage
Saltash Passage was, until 1961, the eastern end of the ferry across the Tamar from Saltash. Curiously, until 1832 it was actually in Cornwall - although always part of the Devon parish of St Budeaux. The ferry service was superseded by the road suspension bridge leaving a rather sleepy but not unattractive spot.

Saltash Passage
A young fisherman casts his line into the water of the River Tamar just below the Royal Albert Bridge. Around the bay is the Ferry House Inn. Saltash Passage derives its name from the ferry to Saltash that operated here until 1961 when it was superseded by the Tamar road bridge.
