View NE, towards Halwill Junction, Okehampton and Exeter; ex-London & South Western North Cornwall ('Withered Arm') line, (Exeter) - Okehampton - Halwill - Wadebridge - Padstow, closed Halwill - Wadebridge 3/10/66. (The enormous Delabole Slate Quarry was on the right).

Delabole Railway station house once
This is the former station house which was on the Okehampton to Padstow "North Cornwall line". This line shut on the 1st October 1966 . This view would be looking towards Padstow and the former down platform is roughly where the wooden fence now runs. For many year the site was out of use but a modern estate has been built on most of the former railway land here. Where cars are now parked the railway once ran west as this estate road roughly follows the old track bed.

Slate cottages, Pengelly, Delabole
These possibly had something to do with the railway (closed 1966), which ran roughly left-to-right across the picture. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Cornwall_Railway

Former Methodist Chapel, Pengelly, Delabole
Methodism was always strong in Cornwall ever since the Wesleys came to preach in 1743, but this chapel, which once served the slate workers of Delabole Quarry, now appears to be disused.

North Cornwall Railway
The view west from Delabole looking towards Padstow and the Atlantic coast. The parapet of the bridge is still here on the west side and this was once a cutting which has been infilled and modern houses built on part of the former trackbed.
