Activities here were described in the 1986 Domesday Project http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/domesday/dblock/GB-256000-57000/page/19 . This is "Old Road" through the centre of the village; New Road bypasses it just to the southeast.

Old and New Road, Lutton
The Old Road forks left through the older part of the village (see Image]); to the right is New Road. The two roads meets again just over 300 metres away down the hill near Almshouse Bridge over the Piall River. The green sign beneath the signpost advertises the Mountain Inn Image
