Evening at Fort William
At about 21:15. On the left, the Caledonian Sleeper which was cancelled because of the bombing atrocity which occurred in London on this date. Intending passengers, including myself, were accommodated in the static sleeping cars in the platform and were re-ticketed on day trains on the following day. On the right is a class 37 locomotive - the class usually handled the sleeper in those days. In the centre of the view, a class 156 which was forming the final train of the day to Mallaig.

A Class 37 diesel electric locomotive, No 37183, shunts sleeping cars at Fort William station. This station replaced the one demolished to make way for a new road scheme along the shore of Loch Linnhe. The sleeping car train [known as the 'Deerstalker Express'] runs overnight between London Euston and Fort William.
