The ladder allows fish to bypass the hydroelectric power station between Loch Faskally and the River Tummel downstream.

Fish ladder, Pitlochry dam
A staircase series of linked pools allows fish to bypass the dam and hydroelectric plant in the buildings to the left. An observation window in the wall just the other side of the white gates gives a chance to view the fish passing.
