The David Sands shop was Mace supermarket when I was growing up here in the 70s. I used to go in the Mallard pub as an under age drinker.

The Istanbul was a laundrette when I lived here in the 70s. The shop on the far left was the Muirfry chip shop. The shops never had shutters in those days.

North Muirton estate, Perth
North Muirton is most infamously remembered for suffering severe flooding in the spring of 1993 when the Tay burst its banks following a sudden spring thaw and a period of heavy rain.

Woody island in winter
The heavy snowfall from late November, supplemented by further snow, had only thawed slightly but the additional water in the Tay was causing a powerful current close to the west bank.

Woody Islands
Also known as Scone Islands, this is a collection of sometime islands in the River Tay. The woods in the photograph, taken from one of the flood defence mounds, is currently on an island, the other sites being normally joined to banks.
