Ashgrove Works, Blairgowrie - waterwheel
A large breast shot, rim drive wheel in this former textile mill. The site also houses a disused steam engine and a disused diesel engine. As far as I know this is still all here but I am sure the last 15 years will not have improved it. This was my second attempt to get in here, on the first occasion my guide turned up but none of her keys fitted the locks.

Ashgrove Works, Blairgowrie
This was one of the mills of Thomas Thomson Ltd, spinners of flax, jute and later rayon. The works is now largely disused and the steam engine, boiler, large waterwheel and this diesel engine are all in poor condition. This is an impressive four cylinder Ruston Hornsby diesel driving a generator but it has not been helped by a leaking roof and lots of guano. I doubt it is in any better condition nearly 7 years later.

Steam engine, Ashgrove Works
A mixture of very orange artificial light plus flash has produced a very strange colour temperature. The engine is a horizontal single cylinder condensing engine by Pearce Bros, Dundee, 1865. It is gear drive and has an expansion drop valve above the slide valve chest.
