This was one of the mills of Thomas Thomson Ltd, spinners of flax, jute and later rayon. The works is now largely disused and the steam engine, boiler, large waterwheel and this diesel engine are all in poor condition. This is an impressive four cylinder Ruston Hornsby diesel driving a generator but it has not been helped by a leaking roof and lots of guano. I doubt it is in any better condition nearly 7 years later.
