Hampton Leys
A brown field site, this former brick pit has been filled and capped with a thick layer of sub and top soil. It is destined to become another township development of Peterborough and will be called Hampton Leys. An access road has been prepared but the impending recession may factor in how fast this area is developed. For a useful guide and map of how 2,500 acres of clay extracted workings are being turned into communities http://www.ohhampton.co.uk

Cycle Route 12 on Peterborough's extensive cycle path network
Peterborough's City Council has used the boom in housing development to extend its network of cycle/footpaths https://www.peterborough.gov.uk/asset-library/PCC-LCWIP.pdf. It must be hoped that the quality of the paths is maintained in the future.

Access road to a stalled development
Land earmarked for development has not surprisingly seen little activity over the first few months of 2009. The location of this particular development is another of the reclaimed brick pits which dominated the landscape on the south western flank of Peterborough.

Unfinished roadworks
A road junction reconstruction has come to a bit of a halt as the recession bites. The junction is destined to facilitate access to the expanding township of Hampton Vale/Hargate.

Closed road
Part of the old A15 that has been given up due to road realignment. A popular pull in for the travelling community outwitting the local authority's efforts to create a barrier to prevent access.

London Road is on fire
A construction team removing white lines from London Road, Peterborough near the Hamptons. Using a "giant flame thrower" to burn the lines off the tarmac which also does a fine job of pebble dashing the side of cars as they crawl through the smoke.
