The church of St Mary Magdalen > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1895852 is situated on the Sandringham Estate and regularly used for worship by the Royal Family and Estate staff. As we see it today, the building dates mainly from the 16th century. It is considered by many to be one of the finest carstone buildings in existence and contains a number of memorials to members and relations of the Royal Family from Queen Victoria onwards. The silver altar, reredos > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1895896 and pulpit > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1895899 were presented to Queen Alexandra by the American Rodman Wanamaker as a tribute to King Edward VII. The windows contain 16th century (and later) stained glass > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1895887. A large Greek immersion font > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1895881 dating from the 9th century can be seen outside by the tower west wall. Prince John's grave, Sandringham
"John Charles Francis, fifth son of King George V and Queen Mary, born July 12 1905 died Jan 18 1919". His grave is by the church of St. Mary Magdalene, Sandringham. He suffered from epilepsy and was kept out of public view. A documentary film "Prince John: The Windsors' Tragic Secret" was made about his life and shown on Channel 4 in 2008.
