Middle Level Outfall Sluice, Wiggenhall St Germans
This was the original sluice and bridge over the Middle Level opened 26th November 1877. I believe it was made redundant by the shrinking fen soil and the need to pump water into the River Great Ouse resulting in the construction of the large nearby pumping station in the early 1930s, see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1026560. This in turn has been replaced by the largest pumping station in the UK opened in 2010 http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2285575

St Germans pumping station demolition
The pumping station for the Middle Level Main Drain built in 1934 at Wiggenhall St Germans was demolished during January and February 2011 to reveal the new one behind it.
