Former Officer quarters Bircham Newton
Now private houses on the edge of the construction college, these were once lived in by the officers of the RAF aerodrome which was the former use for the whole of the surrounding site.

RAF memorial at Bircham Newton
It is situated in the grounds of the former Station Commander's house, now the Heritage Centre. The memorial's inscription reads: "In memory of all those who served at this station and of the many who lost their lives in the course of duty." See also > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4436899.

RAF memorial at Bircham Newton (detail)
Per Ardua Ad Astra - the motto of the Royal Air Force (RAF). According to the College of Arms an authoritative translation is not possible, but the usual translation is "Through Adversity to the Stars". The memorial is situated in the grounds of the former Station Commander's house, now the Heritage Centre. Displays in the RAF Bircham Newton Heritage Centre

Displays include RAF memorabilia, such as photographs, maps, squadron shields, medals, aircraft models, paintings, drawings and written historical records from Bircham Newton's Royal Air Force past.
