Drimnin: the post office
The postmistress told me that the shed was erected in her garden in 1965/66, when she took over as the village postmistress. A 40 years' service certificate hangs proudly on the wall inside the office and she has no immediate plans to retire. In the hole in the hedge hides Image

Upstream shot of the River from the bridge. The dense deciduous woodland is typical of this whole stretch of road between Lochaline and Drimnin and there are many waterfalls appearing between the trees.

Mhungosdaill
The river winding between the trees just before it reaches the sea. At this point the coast has come into a small harbour with a slipway and a point where a ferry carries foot passengers to Tobermory.

Slipway for the Tobermory ferry
This is the end of the metalled section of the road, beyond here are only rough tracks to the outlying homes/farms. The slipway serves the ferry which makes the short crossing to Tobermory. Much shorter trip than going down to Lochaline, across to Fishnish and back up the coast of Mull again but only foot passengers are carried and it doesn't run every day of the week.
