Paisley's 75th first aid post anniversary service
Friday May 6th 2016 was the 75th anniversary of Paisley's WW2 First Aid Post Disaster, which saw 92 innocent souls killed by a German bomber that dropped a mine suspended from a parachute. It is said the mine fell in the direction of the cemetery only to be blown back over the wall and into the land once owned by the Coats family of the Paisley thread mills. Where it landed on a newly purpose built first aid post to train those who would help and recuperated the victims of war. The ceremony was held on Sunday May 8th inside Woodside cemetery and attended by the last remaining survivor Jenny Enterkin now 102 years on. Along with provost Anne Hall, Councillor Mark Macmillan and many other speakers to commemorate those who died. You will find over 100 photos taken that day here : https://www.flickr.com/photos/its-all-pretty-cool_dot-com/albums/72157668046555246
