Pump and Blacksmith's
An old pump on the village green, with the restored blacksmith's shop beyond. The maker's name is on the pump. Ham Baker & Co Ltd. Westminster. S.W.1. Update.:- Seems I wasn't quite right about the pump bit. Dick Williams has sent me this. "Hi Des - just been looking, with interest, at your pic of a pump at Bletchingdon. It's actually a water pillar (hasn't got/doesn't need a handle!), which operates off the pressurised mains. These devices took the place of pumps when mains water was introduced, and are interesting in their own right. I do a regular trawl of geograph, looking for Village Pumps, and am always most grateful for any that geograph subscribers find." Thanks, Dick.
