Kidlington still considers itself a village, but this is a typically suburban shopping precinct.

Kidlington High Street
Despite the look of this High Street, Kidlington is an old village, Chedelintone in The Domesday Book.
Officially it is still a village. Attempts to classify it as a town have been opposed by the residents.

The Red Lion (1), 5 Oxford Road, Kidlington
A 20th century pub, probably from the second half, on the very busy Oxford Road, which is part of the main road through Kidlington. The pub has a number of large televisions for sports fans, and during the World Cup of 2010 it temporarily renamed itself The Three Lions! Now it's back to one, a red one.

Kidlington village centre
Although Kidlington has a population of more than 13,000 and meets the criteria for township it has elected to remain a village. This is a view of the main shopping centre from the Oxford Road.
