The Leys, Witney, Oxon
At the end of the row of houses the road narrows and becomes a lane. Motor vehicles are blocked from entering the lane and there is no turning point. So no doubt residents have become experts at reversing their cars.

The year 2018 marks the centenary of the ending of World War I. The Town Council along with the District Council are hoping to install a new war memorial area in this corner of The Leys to mark this event. The aim is that this will be done in 2018. The recreation ground known today as The Leys was itself intended as a memorial to those who gave their lives in World War I. See:- Image Image Image

Site for proposed new war memorial area (2) - information board, The Leys, Witney, Oxon
The text on this information board says:- "Please do not pull up the newly planted shrubs in this area. This is the planting scheme for a small memorial area to commemorate the end of World War I in 1918. The plants need time to establish to form the right sort of backdrop for what is to come. The white markings show where the different elements of the memorial will be installed. Please treat this area with the respect deserved by the millions who gave their lives. Thank you." Image Image
