The year 2018 marks the centenary of the ending of World War I. The Town Council along with the District Council are hoping to install a new war memorial area in this corner of The Leys to mark this event. The aim is that this will be done in 2018. The recreation ground known today as The Leys was itself intended as a memorial to those who gave their lives in World War I. See:- Image Image Image
