NW near Culworth, towards Eydon
View in deepest Northamptonshire west of Culworth towards Eydon, from a bridge over the former railway line from Banbury to Woodford Halse, which although an important North-South link between the ex-GCR and the ex-GWR was closed in 9/66 along with the ex-GCR main line.

Site of Eydon Road Halt, near Culworth 1992
View northward: a sylvan scene where once ran the important ex-Great Central line between Woodford Halse (Culworth Junction) on the 'London Extension' and Banbury on the ex-GWR system. Halts on this line were served by a few local trains, but the line mainly served as an important link for North-South freight and some through express passenger traffic - until at a stroke all was abandoned on 5/9/66, and since then everything has proceeded along the A34 road system.
