These new charging points for electric cars have only just been installed in the Cattle Market car park in Wallingford. They obviously see a need and are making an effort. Twelve bays replace the original four that were nearby.

Numerous episodes of TV series Midsomer Murders have been recorded in and around Wallingford, which appears as Causton in the series. One of the stories coming up is obviously going to involve cycle racing. There was a bike event taking place in town today anyway so the Midsomer people were able to video in between races using the spectators and event scenery as part of their backdrop. Here, they are taking a close up sequence supposedly during a race, but rather than have the actor cycling dangerously near (or maybe he's not a good cyclist - always possible), his bicycle has had the front wheel taken off and the frame is fixed to the back of the truck. He is being filmed huffing and puffing and pedaling furiously while being towed along. All the spectators were moved over to this side of the road so as to be in shot. The guy standing up waving his arms about is encouraging us all to whoop and cheer as the action passes by.

The shop opposite used to be a car showroom selling BMC cars. They also had a Ford showroom where the Waitrose car park is now.

This bicycle shop is relatively new but there has been one here as long as I can remember though I do forget the formers name. The shop runs the whole width of the building coming out on St Martins street though that door is now shut more for safety reasons.

These exuberant plants seem to love this old part of town. Just in the few nearby streets they grow profusely out of the base of the old walls. They don't seem to particularly like gardens or flower beds, just the uninviting gap between the walls and the roads. The walls contain a lot of chalk rubble. I guess that might have something to do with it. Many of these plants grow to well over two metres high.

The building on the left is the Methodist church, the one on the right used to be a store house for Pettits but was bought by the church and made into a community centre with the entrance in the middle added, it is situated in St Leonards Square.
