Falcon and Manor Mills, Chadderton
This big single storey building is an unusual (for Oldham) example of a weaving shed among the big spinning mills. Designed by P S Stott in 1885 for the Oldham Velvet Manufacturing Co. In 1915 it had 802 looms powered by an Urmson & Thompson engine. It has now been repurposed and is in multiple occupancy.
Even though I took this shot for Falcon, my eye is drawn to the chimney and water tower of the more impressive Manor Mill beyond. This is a former cotton spinning mill.

Manor Mill
An overall view of this fine mill (Listed Grade II), showing the chimney - still with decorative cap - and the small office block. The nearest building is Falcon Mill, unusual for Oldham in being a single-storey weaving mill.

Manor Mill on Victoria Street in Chadderton
An elevated shot of the Byzantine style stair tower at the south east corner of the building. Designed by George Stott and built in 1906, this is one of the best surviving examples of an early 20th century ring spinning mill.
It certainly has the appearance of being very well kept with no broken windows or trees growing out of the beautiful terracotta brickwork.

Falcon Mill, Victoria Street, Chadderton
This is my third visit to this area and I have only just learnt that the big single storey building is an unusual (for Oldham) example of a weaving shed among the big spinning mills. Designed by P S Stott in 1885 for the Oldham Velvet Manufacturing Co. In 1915 it had 802 looms powered by an Urmson & Thompson engine.
Even though I took this shot for Falcon and have labelled it as such, my eye is drawn to the chimney and water tower of the more impressive Manor Mill.
