Incident on Curzon Road
An explosion has destroyed at least three properties on Curzon Road. The road is sealed off as investigations into the cause continue. The nearby Hurst Methodist Church Image was open serving tea and coffee and acting as a point of contact for people affected. I don't know the age of this pub but in 1857 the New Inn on Mossley Road was where jurors met following a disaster at the nearby Heys Colliery http://www.pittdixon.go-plus.net/heys-colliery-disasters/heys-colliery-disasters.htm At one point it was owned by Wilson's Brewery. Image
